A biker group in Georgia, "The Grateful Few," is delivering Narcan to law enforcement across the state to combat the opioid crisis. Comprised of individuals in recovery from opioid abuse, the group aims to save lives by distributing the overdose-reversal drug, particularly as opioid-related deaths have risen. In 2022, they delivered 200 boxes of Narcan, surpassing that number within the first three months of 2023. “It should be widely available; it isn’t necessarily so,” said Orion Mowbray, Associate Dean for Research at the University of Georgia School of Social Work. “Any effort we can take to keep people safe, healthy, and alive is a good one.”Their efforts highlight the growing demand for Narcan and the critical need to prevent fatal overdoses.
